Sunu set for French loan

Sunu set for French loan

Arsenal striker Gilles Sunu will talk with Arsene Wenger this week ahead of a temporary move back to his homeland.

Having scored the crucial equaliser as his national side went on to win the U19 European Championship last month, the 19 year old is full of confidence ahead of the new season where he hopes he can push on as he looks to break into the Arsenal side.

But the Frenchman, who enjoyed a mixed loan spell with Derby last season, is more than willing to leave on loan again if that’s what it takes to achieve his long term goal.

“I must return to Arsenal in the course of next week to have a conversation with the club. I’ll see what happens. If I can get playing time, I’ll stay there. If this is not the case, I will go on loan. The club will decide. My main target is still to succeed at Arsenal.”

Unsurprisngly, Sunu is attracting several teams as they look to strengthen ahead of the new season and there have been rumours of interest from several top French clubs, something that the former Châteauroux youngster welcomes.

“I would rather return to France although I would have no problem with staying in England. There are some French and English clubs that were there during the European Championship and who have expressed an interest. But there is nothing really concrete yet.

Bordeaux is one of the clubs that followed me for some time. But for now, it remains an unofficial interest. I also heard yesterday that Nice were following me. I don’t know for sure, but as they say, there is no smoke without fire “.

Now in his late teens and with plenty of competition both ahead of him and behind him in the Arsenal ranks a successful loan spell will be vital if he wants to achieve success with Arsenal in the future.
